TY - JOUR PY - 2000// TI - State, Market and Freedom of Expression: Women and Electronic Media JO - Economic and political weekly A1 - Chakravarti, Uma SP - WS12 EP - WS17 VL - 35 IS - 18 N2 - The shift from the state-controlled media where the Doordarshan was the sole player in the field with a total monopoly to the opening of the media to private channels, was accompanied by the shift to the market, and global capital spearheaded and guided by the state.
