N2  - This study reflects the first concerted effort to investigate women's perceptions of and their feelings about the Private Family Visit (PFV) program in Canada. The research focused on assessing women's safety during conjugal visits with incarcerated partners. Abuse, control, and violence from partners were issues discussed with the women, but almost all of the participants also described abusive experiences from the correctional system or staff.<p />
