N2  - Violence against women, particularly in the marital relationship, is a common syndrome around the world. Social scientists and psychologists are convinced that violence against women causes inestimable damage to their mental, sexual and physical health and social status. They are subjected to more violence in the marital relationship than any other relationship. Media and studies indicate that the incidence of violence against women is increasing in Bangladesh. The present study attempted to portray the actual situation and causes of violence against women in the socioeconomic and cultural context of Bangladesh and to get remedies in this connection.<p />
