TY - JOUR PY - 1977// TI - Interdisciplinary approach to transportation safety JO - IATSS research A1 - Emori, RI SP - 108 EP - 113 VL - 1 IS - 1 N2 - There is no doubt that many disciplines are involved in approaching the issues of transportation safety problems. One should not consider that the state-of-the-art in transportation safety could be improved by merely accumulating expertise in different fields. To solve problems and an interdisciplinary matter, one should not emphasize his professional expertise at the onset, but defined the framework in which the problem exists. The same time, all the working members should have a consensus as to what standpoint the problem should be viewed from before making cooperative efforts. An interdisciplinary approach should follow the sequence of problem recognition, problem definition, and problem-solving methodologies.
