Rivkind, Death and injury from motor vehicle crashes a tale of two countries, Am J Prev Med 2005 29(5):441-449] and stresses the importance of travel speed in the risk of collision, injury and death on the road. He argues that speed enforcement in the U.S. should be enhanced. Evans proposes three simple laws of traffic safety: 1) Higher travel speeds increase the risk of crashing; 2) When a crash occurs, the higher the speed, the greater is the risk of injury; and 3) When an injury occurs, the higher the speed, the greater is the probability that the injury is fatal.    <p>Language: en</p>
