N2  - Results are reported of a sampling experiment on the adequacy of the cbi-squared approximation to the usual goodnees-of-fit statistic. The expected cell frequencies are taken to be equal. There is closeagreement even when the expected frequency is very small. Two modifications of the test statistic are assessed.<p />
