N2  - This paper discusses several issues important when conducting repeated-measures research. The primary focus of the paper is on the analytic techniques available to analyze data collected using repeated-measures designs. The benefits and costs of choosing a repeated-measures design provides the backdrop to highlight these techniques. In this discussion, issues affecting the use of multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA) and repeated-measures analysis of variance (RANOVA) are discussed, as well as the options for dealing with data where sphericity does not hold. The paper also discusses how researchers may analyze 'error' terms to gain additional insights into the data structure. A flowchart is presented to synthesize this material and aid the human factors-ergonomics researcher in decisions necessary when conducting repeated-measures research.<p />
