N2  - Gary Parkison, a defendant with AIDS-related dementia, was found legally sane by a Contra Costa County jury when he plotted to have his ex-lover killed for $860,000 in insurance money. No testimony was presented showing that the defendant was insane at the time he plotted the murder. A videotape showed the defendant giving $2,500 to an undercover police officer to hire the officer for the murder. The defendant was convicted and sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.
