TY - JOUR PY - 2000// TI - Drug-induced exanthemas JO - Revue du praticien, La A1 - Chosidow, O. SP - 1310 EP - 1313 VL - 50 IS - 12 N2 - Drug-induced exanthemas are probably the most frequent cutaneous adverse drug reaction. Outcome of the isolated forms are usually favourable. However, exanthemas may be part of a more severe form, as hypersensitivity syndrome, Lyell syndrome, Stevens-Johnson syndrome or acute generalized exanthematic pustulosis. The mechanism is essentially immunologic. Antibiotics (aminopenicillins, antibacterial sulfamides, antituberculosis drugs) must be considered high risk drugs. Treatment is only symptomatic. Corticosteroids must be avoided.
