TY - JOUR PY - 2010// TI - A study of the effect of wind on traffic safety JO - Traffic management studies A1 - Ebadinejad, A. A1 - Osanlou, A. SP - 85 EP - 100 VL - 5 IS - 18 N2 - The wind, as a geographical factor, can affect the safety of transportation. The main factor in creating winds is the disparate distribution of sunshine. The movement of vehicles in sandstorms is very dangerous, especially when the drivers do not have the required skills, which may bring about catastrophic accidents, since violent winds can divert vehicles from the road. The present paper is applied in nature and employs library and documentary research, direct observation, and aero logy plans. The goal of the survey is to show the significance of wind in causing road accidents. The results show that this factor plays a role in grouping accident factors in all three kinds (i.e. primary, secondary, and median). Road accident abundance is 6%, with Sistan and Baluchestan Province (%7/5) having the largest amount of accidents in Iran.
