N2  - The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child grew out of protests against the male-dominated violence of war, particularly in the Balkans, during two world wars. Many children have been killed, disabled, made homeless, and psychologically traumatized, particularly in intrastate wars, since the Second World War. Recently, large numbers of children have become soldiers, often after violent indoctrination.
