N2  - This paper discusses how structured conceptualization, conducted as one phase of a larger study, was used to conceptualize "caring" in a nursing context. Variations of the structured conceptualization process were conducted with three different groups; nurses, patients, and nurse theorist/researchers and a separate concept map was derived for each group. The maps are discussed along with implications for the development of a theory of caring and consideration of the advantages and disadvantages of the methodology.<p />
