N2  - Elf-Aquitaine and Total-CFP have recently drilled two wells in deep Mediterranean sea in 1200 m and 1800 m of water depth. This paper is mainly concerned with two of the safety/risk studies which have been achieved in relation to the above drilling: blow-out risk and riser-loss risk. The methods used, and to some extent the results, are briefly described.<p />
