TY - JOUR PY - 1917// TI - A new method for measuring reaction-time JO - Journal of experimental psychology A1 - Austin, F. E. SP - 34 EP - 40 VL - 2 IS - 1 N2 - Describes a method of measuring RT, based upon the fact that the arc produced by an alternating current between 2 electrodes is set up and extinguished twice during each cycle of alternations. It also involves the accuracy with which the frequency of an alternating current may be indicated and observed by employing a Frahm frequency meter. The image of an alternating arc can be focused on a photographic plate. It has been noted that the accuracy of record does not depend upon the uniformity of motion of the surface upon which the record is made. To eliminate observational errors, a photograph of the dial of the frequency meter can be taken simultaneously with the record on the moving film. Concludes that any number of blue prints may be made and distributed for individual computation and study. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
