TY - JOUR PY - 1921// TI - Improvement in Brightness Discrimination and its Bearing on a Behavioristic Interpretation of Perception JO - Journal of experimental psychology A1 - Jones, E. S. SP - 198 EP - 202 VL - 4 IS - 3 N2 - In many current psychological textbooks the nature of perceptual experience is frequently treated without reference to the reaction phase ( i.e., some type of muscular response) of perception. Experiments would seem to indicate, however, that in discriminations of tint and hue, e.g., differences in perception must be explained in terms of reaction. Nearly all the protocols of practiced observers bear witness to the fact that increase in fineness of visual discrimination is conditioned by nice adjustment of muscular response. Perception of differences seems to resolve fundamentally into methods of reacting. From Psych Bulletin 19:01:00022. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2012 APA, all rights reserved)
