TY - JOUR PY - 1986// TI - Garments designed to reduce fire hazard JO - Fire safety journal A1 - Belshaw, RL A1 - Jerram, DL SP - 19 EP - 28 VL - 10 IS - 1 N2 - The concept of reducing the fire hazard of apparel by using flame retardant fabrics is compared with the approach of producing garments designed to improve fire safety.
The rationale and advantages of the safe design method are discussed. Data from thermal injury surveys are used to support the concept. The results of manikin trials are reported including some recent work comparing the performance of five different fabrics, each used in both pyjamas and nightdresses.
