N2  - The relationship between the optical density and the particulate mass concentration of fire smoke is further developed. A correlation is obtained for relating gravimetric determinations made with the Arapahoe Smoke Chamber to light transmission measurements made with the NBS chamber. The correlation is particularly good for plastics, but less satisfactory for wood. Possible explanations for the latter deficiency are proposed.<p />
