N2  - This paper refers to the fires that have occured on warships over a number of years, and uses the evidence to justify the development and introduction of a new type of cable termed Limited Fire Hazard (LFH). The performance requirements of this LFH cable are discussed, detailed and compared with existing types. The advantages of eliminating Halogen compounds is stated. The initial cost premium is justified on the basis of enhanced safety, reliability and availability of warships. Likely futher developments are predicted.<p />
