N2  - This paper provides an independent evaluation of a variety of models which have potential use in describing the movement of smoke. Comparison of model results with experimental data from two fires yielded mixed success. Because of the nature of the models, focus is placed on the temperature and the depth of the upper hot gas layer as a function of time.<p />
