TY - JOUR PY - 2000// TI - A multi-reflector headlamp that can produce a diagonal cut-off without a shield JO - Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part D: Journal of automobile engineering A1 - Yan, W. A1 - Mao, W. SP - 839 EP - 842 VL - 214 IS - 8 N2 - Inherent in the design of a low-beam (passing-beam) headlamp pattern is a trade-off between providing sufficient lighting for the driver using the headlamp and protecting oncoming drivers from glare. To solve this problem, a multi-reflector (MR) headlamp is presented which has a dual focal length parabolic cylinder construction to utilize fully the light emission of the light source. Also, some segments of the MR have a tilted parabolic cylindrical shape, so a sharp diagonal cut-off line can be realized.
