Purpose In this workshop, facilitated by editorial board members from the journal Injury Prevention, participants will become familiar with the process of writing for scientific publication, including a discussion of common mistakes, useful resources and strategies to improve the writing process and acceptance rates. Methods Didactic presentation followed by small group discussion and exercises. Outcome Attendees will understand the structure of scientific manuscripts, be able to recognise attributes of a good introduction and discussion section, describe the use of checklists and guidelines as an aid to writers, and be able to outline the process of peer review and editorial decision-making.
