N2  - This article examines the causes and frequency of accidents and fatalities of children during school transport in Sweden and the UK. Researchers found that that most fatalities or injuries associated with school transportation occurred when the children were outside the bus, and that the framework for school transport safety should change to reflect a door to door perspective. Data from national accident databases were analyzed, taking into account mode, age, and time of day of incidents to have a more inclusive picture of school transport. The results showed that while the majority of children killed during school transport were not occupants of vehicles, the lack of consistent data related to the issue should be addressed to further school transport safety.<p />
