N2  - One of the prime factors that is influencing the training of aircrews is the introduction of "synthetic" training using ground-based simulators and trainers. Unfortunately, the state-of-the-art in simulation hardware has far outstripped our understanding of the corresponding ways in which the flight training syllabus can be changed to take the best advantage of the new technologies.
