TY - JOUR PY - 1979// TI - Target discriminability in complex search situations JO - Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society annual meeting A1 - Bloomfield, John R. A1 - Wald, Jerry A1 - Smith, Deborah A. SP - 379 EP - 383 VL - 23 IS - 1 N2 - Stimuli from Bloomfield's (1979) embedded-target visual search study were used in a series of experiments. The targets differed in color mixture from the nontargets. Target discriminability was measured in several ways: by limiting exposure time, by optical blurring and by introducing neutral density filters. The discriminability measurements were compared to the previously-obtained data in order to discover the best predictor of search performance.
