TY - JOUR PY - 1982// TI - Optical variables as measures of performance during simulated flight JO - Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society annual meeting A1 - Owen, Dean H. A1 - Warren, Rik SP - 312 EP - 315 VL - 26 IS - 4 N2 - It is assumed that when a pilot flies according to visual flight reference, control adjustments are made in order to control visual perception. If so, the optical variables and invariants produced by the pilot can serve as dependent variables in research on information used in guiding flight. Visual flight simulators provide an ideal experimental environment for exploring the optical approach to the study of pilots' perception-action cycles.
