TY - JOUR PY - 1984// TI - Manual ability evaluation: device, measure, and reliability JO - Proceedings of the Human Factors and Ergonomic Society annual meeting A1 - Rahimi, Mansour A1 - Malzahn, Don E. SP - 183 EP - 187 VL - 28 IS - 2 N2 - This paper descirbes the Available Motions Inventory (AMI) as a testing and evaluation system for measuring human physical ability based on components of industrial manual tasks. Using a microcomputer, the AMI subtest scores (71 for each hand) can be transformed into a meaningful design-oriented scoring system for intra-individual and inter-individual comparisons. Also, the AMI was shown to have a high test-retest reliability with a correlation coefficient of 0.85. This system can be used for design and modification of industrial manual tasks based on matching of human abilities with task requirements.
