TY - JOUR PY - 2013// TI - Development and validation of a coupled head-neck FEM - application to whiplash injury criteria investigation JO - International journal of crashworthiness A1 - Meyer, F. A1 - Willinger, Rémy SP - 40 EP - 63 VL - 18 IS - 1 N2 - The objective of the present study is to improve the understanding of whiplash injury mechanisms based on the extensive numerical simulation of real-world rear impact accidents with a detailed head-neck finite-element model (FEM). Based on an existing FE neck model and on an existing whiplash accident database including crash pulse recording, the present study proposes an in-depth investigation of the neck response at tissue level with the objective to extract pertinent 'intra-cervical' parameters presenting high correlation with the occurrence of whiplash injury.
