N2  - The purpose of this study was to gain further knowledge about Latina domestic violence victims and how they perceived their culture as a contributing factor to staying in the abusive relationship. The sample for this study was comprised of seven Latina domestic violence victims. All of the respondents were residents of a shelter program for battered women. Participants completed a 32-item self-administered questionnaire. From this study's findings, it appears as though there are certain Latino cultural perceptions among Latina battered women, in relation to domestic violence, that may make leaving an abusive relationship difficult. In this study, the respondents' views on family pressure to stay, families' negative opinion toward the victim upon leaving, and the cultural unacceptability of leaving the abusive relationship would create a conflicted feeling for the battered woman to leave.
