N2  - <p>This article reviews the literature on how race, ethnicity, and class influence a woman's vulnerability to rape, the meaning and impact of the rape, and the response of family, of community, and of social institutions. Based on the literature and on the author's experience as a therapist and rape crisis counselor, recommendations for culturally appropriate counseling and psychotherapy are discussed.</p>
