TY - JOUR PY - 1995// TI - Self-mutilation and psychosomatic auto-aggression: a cautionary note in the management of chronic bone and soft tissue infections JO - European journal of orthopaedic surgery and traumatology A1 - Winter-Klemm, B. SP - 69 EP - 70 VL - 5 IS - 1 N2 - In septic bone surgery the treating orthopaedic surgeon is occasionally confronted with patients in whom, inspite of adequate treatment, a favourable clinical result cannot be obtained. In such instances one has to think about self-mutilating patients with subconscious manipulative behavior or patients with psychosomatic auto-aggression of concealed psychotic depression but without self-mutilation. The aim of this publication is to identify these patients and learn how to deal with them.
