TY - JOUR PY - 1985// TI - Alcohol tolerance and its significance in driving JO - Journal (Canadian Society of Forensic Science) A1 - DeLuca, Lorraine SP - 1 EP - 23 VL - 18 IS - 1 N2 - Tolerance to the effects of ethanol has always been a matter of debate and speculation. In cases of drinking and driving, how this tolerance relates to impaired driving is of interest. A discussion of the time course of development, the factors affecting tolerance development, and the possible mechanisms leading to tolerance to ethanol is included. From studies of humans and driving, indications are that alcohol tolerance may be significant at moderate blood alcohol concentrations (50-70 mg/100 mL) but insignificant at higher blood alcohol levels.
