N2  - A polymorphism in the serotonin transporter gene (5-HTTLPR) is being studied for association with suicidal behavior. We verified the relationship between the frequencies of the 5-HTTLPR alleles in 84 depressed patients with suicide attempts compared with 152 controls. We found a higher risk for suicide behavior among depressed patients bearing SS or LS genotypes.<p />  <p>Language: en</p>
