TY - JOUR PY - 1978// TI - External ear injuries JO - Journal of the American College of Emergency Physicians A1 - Liston, S. L. A1 - Cortez, E. A. A1 - McNabney, W. K. SP - 233 EP - 236 VL - 7 IS - 6 N2 - The unique shape of the external ear depends on the underlying cartilaginous framework. Injuries of the external ear are common. In dealing with lacerations, subperichondrial hematomas, perichondritis, burns and frostbite, particular care should be taken to maintain the cartilaginous framework and to prevent infection. In this way cosmetic deformities of the external ear can be prevented.
