TY - JOUR PY - 1979// TI - Factors influencing prognosis in indirect traumatic rupture of the globe JO - Annals of ophthalmology A1 - Cherry, P. M. SP - 275 EP - 279 VL - 11 IS - 2 N2 - Fifty indirect traumatic ruptures of the globe were reviewed in order to isolate factors important in determining the visual outcome: (1) The presence of a hyphema at the initial examination is a very bad prognostic sign. (2) A small rupture carries a better prognosis than a large rupture (arbitrary dividing line, 9 mm). (3) Cryotherapy or diatherapy used at the wound edge at the time of surgical repair improves prognosis.
