TY - JOUR PY - 2014// TI - Violent media games and aggression-Is it really time for a mea culpa? JO - American psychologist, The A1 - Hoffman, August John SP - 305 EP - 306 VL - 69 IS - 3 N2 - Comments on the article, "Violent video games and the Supreme Court: Lessons for the scientific community in the wake of Brown v. Entertainment Merchants Association," by C. J. Ferguson (see record 2013-04752-001). The recent article by Ferguson addressing the ongoing controversy regarding violent media games and aggression identified several important points that both advocates and opponents of media violence and behavior can agree on. The commenter agrees with Ferguson that several factors exist in the primary cause of increased aggression in our society today, as aggression can be linked to several sources and affects different people with different temperaments in a variety of ways. The purpose of this comment is not to further polarize and isolate research ideology in the controversy over violent media games and aggression but rather to find common ground in how to address the systemic problem of violence in our society.
