TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - Pathology of sports injuries of the foot JO - Minerva medica A1 - Pisani, G. SP - 1139 EP - 1142 VL - 72 IS - 18 N2 - Foot injuries caused by sport have increased by number, due both to the fact that more people are practising sport at an amateur level, and to subliminal performance with particular engagement of the foot as an active instrument in most sports. Generic, usually occasional, traumatology must be distinguished from specific traumatology. The latter is substantially microtraumatic, but not necessarily of less importance, since the sequelae of an initially mild clinical picture are well known. Training (proprioceptivity of the ligaments) is acquiring a different meaning in the prevention of sports injuries. Ligamentous injuries of the tarsotibial joint, diseases of the subastragalic and the plantar flexor apparatus are of particular interest and referred to in the text.
