TY - JOUR PY - 1998// TI - Saccadic eye movements and reactions of drivers with low alcohol concentrations JO - Blutalkohol A1 - Bartl, Gregor A1 - Brandstätter, Christian A1 - Hosemann, A. A1 - Reitter, C SP - 124 EP - 138 VL - 35 IS - 2 N2 - 25 male test drivers with an average alcohol level of 0.7% as well as 23 sober test drivers participated in a 15 minute drive enclosed grounds. Saccadic eye movements were analyzed by using the Daimler Benz Eye Tracking System. The average time of eye fixation had already been significantly increased despite it being such a relatively low BAC. The time span between initial eye fixation and the reaction to an obstacle tended to be longer too. Therefore the accuracy of reaction was significantly impaired due to alcohol: five at the 25 intoxicated drivers caused an accident while none of the sober ones did.
