N2  - Sixty three blood alcohol curves with several lood samples taken in the doubtless post maximum interval were subjected to extrapolation with elimination factors ranging from 0.10 to 0.22 per mille per hr. In most of the cases, real former blood alcohol concentrations were correctly determined by the use of the 0.10(per mille)/h elimination factor when the blood alcohol level was not higher than 0.8 (per mille). With concentrations above that level, the most reliable calculating factor was 0.19 (per mille)/h. Therefore, a 'differential calculation' is proposed. When no more than 60 min after the last ingestion of alcoholic beverages lapsed, calculation of former blood alcohol values would have intervened in rising blood alcohol concentrations in approximately 20% of the cases.<p />
