TY - JOUR PY - 1974// TI - The accuracy of the identification of alcohol in urine by the vanadium sulfuric acid technique JO - Blutalkohol A1 - Kreutzer, PH SP - 240 EP - 247 VL - 11 IS - 4 N2 - In the determination of urine alcohol concentration using the vanadium sulfuric acid method of Vidic an influence of sodium hydroxide added to the urine has been observed. Generally the alcohol concentration is diminished by increasing quantities of added alkali. The addition of a mixture of solid sodium bicarbonate/sodium carbonate (3:1) to the urine samples yielded the best results compared with the urine alcohol values obtained by gas chromatographic determination.
