N2  - In animal experiments the effects of acute alcohol intoxication on the pulmonary circulation were investigated. Various hemodynamic parameters were measured. Alcohol caused a significant rise in pulmonary artery blood pressure, also affecting the myocardial function. Particularly in cases of large amounts of alcohol ingestition, due to the worsening of the cardiac condition, cardiac arrest should be considered as a possible cause of death.<p />
