TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - The evidential value of the alcohol concentration in double samples of blood. recommendations for revised text of uniform rules JO - Blutalkohol A1 - Zink, P. A1 - Reinhardt, G. SP - 377 EP - 386 VL - 18 IS - 6 N2 - In the German Federal Republic the governmental regulations for the determination of blood-alcohol concentration in forensic cases are due to be amended. Drivers at times pretend that they have drunk alcoholic beverages after an accident to make the court believe that the blood alcohol concentration at the time of accident was lower than at the time of the sampling. In an investigation we have proved under which conditions double-samples indicate a significant difference of the ethanol concentrations. A difference of 5% of the mean value determined by modern equipment is significant. A computerized evaluation of 466 alcohol curvatures showed that double sampling of blood up to 1, at least 2 hours after the end of drinking can indicate an alcohol intake after an offence. The first of two samples has to be taken as soon as possible, the second sample after an interval of 30 minutes.
