N2  - Empirical relations between tsunami parameters and underwater eruption energy have been improved, making use of Le Mehaute's theory of explosion-generated water waves. Formulae can be used to estimate underwater eruption characteristics by tsunami wave data. Estimates of energy for some past event have been obtained, in particular, for multiple eruptions of the 1952-1953 Myojinsho volcano, to be E ∼ 1015 - 1016 J.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
