N2  - This study was designed to help address the lack of research on sexual abuse in Latinas. This study evaluated symptoms of depression, anxiety, and self-concept in a racially mixed sample of sexually abused girls. Latinas had elevated levels of depression and anxiety and lower levels of self-concept than children in standardization samples. Their symptom levels did not differfrom the sexually abused White and African American girls in the study. They were also very similar to the othersubjects in relationship to the identity of the perpetrator, the age when the abuse began, and the kind of abuse. The only racial/ethnic differencefound in the study was in duration of the abuse, with White girls experiencing longer abuse than the Latina orAfrican American subjects.
