N2  - 9/11 brought a new type of security threat to the forefront of Western agendas: strategic terrorism. Through its pervasiveness in different aspects of society, such as economics and politics, strategic terrorism continues to defeat the superior military strength of the US. Given this situation, the transatlantic partnership between the US and the EU must be reinforced and utilised to develop innovative response strategies. Since becoming both a member of the EU and NATO, Bulgaria has been a staunch supporter of combating terrorism through a close transatlantic alliance and initiatives made within the UN framework.<p /> <p>Language: en</p>
