TY - JOUR PY - 1977// TI - Evaluation of estimated vehicle-trip productions and attractions in a small urban area JO - Transportation research record A1 - Goode, Larry Richard SP - 21 EP - 25 VL - 638 IS - N2 - This study was a test of the validity of a gravity-model calibration that used estimated trip productions and attractions rather than expanded origin-destination trip productions and attractions from a 10 percent home-interview survey. The validity of each calibrated model was measured by its ability to duplicate traffic volumes on the street system of the urban area of Greensboro, North Carolina. The estimated trip productions and attractions were produced by cross-classification analysis respectively for the five purposes of home-based work, home-based shopping, home-based other, nonhome based, and trucks. The estimated productions and attractions were statistically better at the 99 percent level of significance than the productions and attractions developed from the expanded origin-destination study for calibrating the gravity model.
