TY - JOUR PY - 1981// TI - A probabilistic model of gap acceptance behavior JO - Transportation research record A1 - Maze, Thomas H. SP - 8 EP - 13 VL - 795 IS - N2 - Although gap acceptance measures are often used in traffic engineering problems, there are no known, widely used techniques to account for the distribution of gap acceptance behavior at a specific site. The use of a simple-to -calibrate logit function to model the distribution of gap acceptance behavior is described. Because of the ease of modeling and the resulting good fit derived for this application of the model, it is believed that similar efforts could be conducted to model the actual distribution of gap acceptance behavior for use in specific design problems. However, further study with greater quantities of data and at other locations is recommended.
