N2  - The article discusses prostitution in the context of human rights. The author discussed the international approaches to the problem of prostitution and their effectiveness. She views that prostitution, until recently, is defined by the international system, including the United Nations, as one of trafficking and exploiting human beings, akin to slavery because of the violence and coercion involved. She argues that the failure of the measures to address prostitution lies behind the fact that most societies and most governments consider it a accepted fact of life.
