N2  - The article discusses the aspects of U visa which was designed to protect sexually-assaulted and undocumented immigrant women in the U.S. It is said that the U visa was created in October 2000 by the U.S. Congress as part of the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Act of 2000 but unfortunately its terms and conditions were not clearly defined until September 17, 2007. Prior to that, victims were only provided with Interim U Visa Relief or Deferred Action status which requires yearly renewals and left victims without permanent legal status.
