TY - JOUR PY - 2015// TI - Operational safety of electronic stability programs JO - VKU Verkehrsunfall und Fahrzeugtechnik A1 - Fürbeth, Uwe SP - 104 EP - 114 VL - 53 IS - 3 N2 - Since 1995 driving dynamics controllers have been introduced increasingly in cars and utility vehicles. In the EU, it is in the meantime regulated by law, that newly approved cars and utility vehicles have to be equipped with ESC. Nowadays, the operating mode of ESC should be known at least roughly by most of the motorists. But less known are grasped activities targeted on safety, reliability and self-diagnosis abilities of the safety-related controlling system itself, which influences the driving security in relevant manner. In the end the reliability and availability of an ESC increases the operational and driving safety of the whole car and thereby the road safety. The article is dealing with functional safety of driving dynamics controllers and describes chosen basic points of development, application and field reliability. (A)
