The authors explain a four suggested activities that take a short amount of time, get students up and moving or observing an activity, and have the potential to engage students in important discussion about driver safety. Each activity is based on becoming more aware of distracted driving, and each includes a debrief time at the end. Each of the activities described is designed to involve students in experiencing, observing, and processing distracted driver behaviors in a safe environment. The activities can demonstrate the dangers not only of distracted driving but also of the mistaken belief that it is possible to perform two incompatible activities at once.
